Week 9: July 6

Book Club Agenda

Chat with the Owner

Welcome to your ninth week at the Curda IT Cafe. Last week was a pretty heavy week with 5 chapters.  This week will be a little lighter with only 3 chapters to read.  This week you also have your final 2 article analyses to complete.  I usually like to have an off week while you are working on analyses, but with the shorter Summer semester it is impossible to do this and still get finished with our text and cover all topics.  The good news is the analyses I have read so far are well done.  I should have feedback to everyone either tonight or early tomorrow so you will have any feedback necessary to make improvements to your second set of analyses you will work on this week.  Many of you will simply be doing the same thing as you did with the first 2 given you did a good job on those.

You have 2 more analyses to submit by Tuesday, July 13th.  My plan right now (things can always change) is that I will make a home page for each student with their article analyses and synthesis so that your peers can review and comment.  Some of you are interested in the same topics and should find what others critiqued interesting. I will try to have this ready by the final 2 weeks of class so everyone has some time to look them over.

This week you should spend time reading and responding to the required discussions from last week.  In addition, you should be read the new chapters on applications of IT and post to the 3 new discussions for the week.  We have 3 open mic performances by our regulars.

Appetizers this Week

By the end of this week I expect you to be able to:
  • read and respond to at least 3 peers on each of the required discussions from last week
  • discuss the variety of roles an instructional designer might have in business and industry
  • describe rapid prototyping
  • discuss the role of instructional design in military training
  • discuss the roles of instructional design and technology in health care settings
